David Weintraub, president and CEO of DWE Entertainment, is threatening legal action against Alex Rodriguez over a joint reality TV show venture.
In a lengthy caption on a series of Instagram photos and videos that show the former Yankee on set with Weintraub and “Baywatch” star Nicole Eggert, Weintraub calls Rodriguez a “ruthless clout chaser” and claims he is only “pretending” to be a financial adviser on CNBC’s “Back in the Game.”
“Alex has gone above and beyond to fake and act his role as being a helper/investor/businessman on this show and has truly showed his true colors & disingenuous intentions to steal ideas & diminish people reputations & businesses through the confines of this program to better his own celebrity and pretend to be an expert in marketing and investing which he is not,” Weintraub claimed, claiming Jennifer Lopez’s fiancé is wearing an earpiece and taking notes because he has “no idea what he is talking about.”
He also claimed that the show is “totally scripted” and is “being pawned off” as a reality show.
Weintraub, along with business partner Eggert, brought in Rodriguez to help her launch a new business venture and use that story to help kick off “Back in the Game,” but it didn’t pan out as expected. “Back in the Game” pairs Rodriguez with “athletes and entertainers who’ve fallen on hard times and need help getting back on their feet,” according to the network.
Rodriguez hasn’t publicly responded to Weintraub’s claims. A rep for Rodriguez referred Page Six to CNBC, which Page Six has contacted a number of times for comment.
The Hollywood exec, whose clients include Scott Disick, Ray J and Vinny Guadagnino, said he’s going to take legal action against Rodriguez because the former MLB player allegedly used “illegally taped conversations” to make it appear as if Weintraub and Eggert “were uncooperative talent.”
“When in fact the show, it’s star and the premise were in no way, shape or form what we agreed to participate in,” Weintraub ended the rant.
Eggert, 47, added in the comments, “Oh the power of editing. So disappointing.”
