Jeff Goldblum has said in two separate interviews that he is willing to work with Woody Allen again. Once heralded director and writer Woody Allen has been accused of child molestation by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. The allegations recently surfaced again during the #MeToo movement, with Allen continuing to deny that it ever happened. Goldblum’s stance on the subject has seen some heavy blowback on social media as people are now calling for the “cancellation” of Jeff Goldblum.
In one recent interview in the lead up to Disney+’s launch of his new show The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Jeff Goldblum was asked about working with Woody Allen. The actor previously worked with the director on 1977’s Annie Hall, which is regarded as one of Allen’s best movies. Though Allen was cleared of child molestation charges in the 1990s, Dylan Farrow has brought them up again and many actors have stated they will no longer work with him. Goldblum has a different opinion. He explains.
“Well, that’s a very publicly provocative and delicate question. As we know, times have evolved… I’d have to say yes. Yep. I’ve looked into some of it, and I’d look into it more, but the answer is yes.”
In a separate interview, Jeff Goldblum was asked again about whether or not he would consider working with Woody Allen, who has been accused of multiple counts of sexual miscnduct. While he states that he would, he seems less positive about it than the previous interview. Some have looked at this next answer as standing up for Allen. Goldblum had this to say.
“I think there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. I know I enjoyed working with him many years ago and I sat in with his band once too… Even though I feel like this cultural shift (the #MeToo movement) is very, very positive and long overdue and I support it wholeheartedly and take it very seriously, I also admire his body of work. So I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more.”
After the interviews were posted online, social media took notice. “And that’s that on Jeff Goldblum. Goodbye”, said one former fan on Twitter. Another social media user said, “I did not see ending my long-ass crush on Jeff Goldblum on my 2019 Bingo card but here we are.” There are a lot more people who are pretty bummed out that Goldblum would consider working with Woody Allen again, though Scarlett Johansson did not receive the same type of blowback for standing with the director.
Obviously, the comments on social media end up going a lot further, but there are more than a few who are standing up for Jeff Goldblum, they just don’t seem to be as loud as those who are angry at the Jurassic Park actor. As with anything, negativity travels a lot quicker than good news online and this is one of those times. Goldblum has a new show that debuts on the Disney+ streaming platform next week called The World According to Jeff Goldblum. The second interview with Goldblum was originally conducted by I U.K.

Jeff Goldblum can say what he wants and work with whom he wants, but to suggest that it’s unknowable whether Woody Allen is a repulsive human being with a decades-long history of sexual predation is vacuous, fatuous, and insulting.

Are y’all really gonna cancel Jeff Goldblum for agreeing with the entire basis of any sort of ethical law and order https://t.co/5PVGHi5I0u

People are wanting to ‘cancel’ Jeff Goldblum because he believes in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. That’s what his comment is. He’s not saying, Allen is innocent or did nothing wrong. He’s saying he hasn’t been found guilty. Just believing in due process.
