An exclusive clip from episode 7 of Facebook Watch’s Sorry For Your Loss sees Leigh and Danny take a much needed road trip, one that may or may not become a romantic getaway. The emotional drama was the first Facebook original series to really gain a foothold with critics, who warmed to its exploration of grief and desire, and its talented cast of actors that includes Elizabeth Olsen, Kelly Marie Tran, and Jovan Adepo. Now, well into its second season, the series finds two of its main characters positioned to take their relationship to the next level, provided a certain boy band doesn’t get in the way.
Season 2 of Sorry For Your Loss has so far delivered on the dramatic storyline of Leigh (Olsen) and her family’s struggles to recover after her husband, Matt (Manoudou Athie), died suddenly. Complicating Leigh’s efforts to heal are her relationships with her sister Jules (Tran) and the complex feelings she has for her one-time brother-in-law, Danny (Adepo), feelings he shares. Those emotions have been a point of contention for the two since before Matt passed away, though they were buried under what looked like distrust and dislike. But as the second season progresses, it looks as though Leigh and Danny will finally have a chance to see what the future holds for them, as they embark on a road trip together.
The clip is a short one, but it demonstrates the kind of casual, confident rhythm of dialogue and story the series has under the watchful eye of creator and executive producer Kit Steinkellner. There’s an obvious tension in Leigh and Danny’s trip, one that is apparent in not only the way they speak with one another, but in their body language as well. In an attempt to diffuse the situation a little, Leigh indulges in a little ironic (maybe?) enjoyment of the boy band 98 Degrees, to which Danny responds less than enthusiastically. Check out an exclusive clip from Sorry For Your Loss, episode 7 ‘Thirty Years’ below:
It’s a sign of just how well this series is written and acted that it can play around with the lingering sexual tension between its two leads, and address it outright, without causing the situation to fall slack. To their credit, Olsen and Adepo have an obvious chemistry, one they capitalize on here, particularly when Leigh responds to Danny’s itinerary by asking if that includes sex.
Sorry For Your Loss season 2 is nearing an end, which makes this the perfect time for those who haven’t yet tuned in to get caught up (it’s ridiculously easy to binge). For everyone else, this latest episode may be the turning point that’s been on the table for so long.
Sorry For Your Loss continues Tuesday, October 29 on Facebook Watch.
