Gigi Hadid threw shade at The Bachelorette’s Tyler Cameron with her “Boys Lie, Goodbye” sweatshirt. Hadid, however, is a woman known for making bold fashion statements.
Hadid and good friend Hailey Bieber were instrumental in getting fashionistas on board with the dad sneaker craze. Hadid and her supermodel sister Bella were also early adopters of the tiny sunglasses fad. She even made her 24th birthday party its own fashion statement by requiring attendees to show up in their best denim ensembles. But now that her summer romance with Bachelorette contestant Cameron has come to an end, Hadid is letting her style represent her feelings.
It all started with a “Like.” After the season 15 Bachelorette finale, Hadid started following Cameron on Instagram. From there, their whirlwind courtship began. On August 4, 2019, the two were spotted enjoying each other’s company at Soho House in New York City. Just 24 hours later, they were seen out on another date at a bowling alley. Soon after, Cameron was said to have left Hadid’s apartment. More fun-filled dates followed. The duo vacationed together in Lake George towards the end of the summer. Hadid even introduced her reality-star beau to good friend Serena Williams. It looked as though Cameron would finally get his happy ending after being dumped on national television by Hannah Brown.
However, through the entirety of their courtship, Cameron demonstrated a lack of integrity with other women. He reportedly nursed his broken heart from the Bachelorette finale with a social media influencer named Violet Benson. That rendezvous fell closely on the heels of the now-infamous date and walk of shame he had with Brown in early August. He moved so quickly between those women, that Hadid probably had little time to question his true motives.
What’s more, Hadid has been through the wringer romantically with other relationships. Her on-again, off-again love affair with singer Zayn Malik was overshadowed by his unceremonious dumping of Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards. Prior to that, Hadid dated singer Joe Jonas. Tongues wagged during that union because Jonas had also dated (and dumped) Hadid’s good friend Taylor Swift, and was reportedly the subject of her song, “Forever and Always.”
Through it all, Hadid has been mum about her dating frustrations… until now. The teal-colored “Boys Lie, Goodbye” sweatshirt appears to be the supermodel’s quiet declaration that she’s mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. It’s a particularly poignant sentiment considering the rumors that she and Cameron ended their tryst weeks ago. With all of his back and forth with other women, as well as his constant assertions that he and Hadid are, “just friends,” perhaps it wasn’t in the cards for them after all.
