On this week’s episode of Married At First Sight , the couples went deeper into the past to help them determine if they have a future together. With less than three weeks left to make a decision time is imperative. The Married At First Sight experts ask the couples to visit childhood memories.
One couple has drama the ENTIRE episode, to the point where we are left wondering if they should call it quits before decision day. Let the minding of other people’s business begin and start the Married At First Sight recap!
In an effort to increase their physical intimacy, Iris Caldwell plans a dance lesson for her and Keith Manley. This type of dancing definitely made Keith happy. Now I don’t know how happy he will be when he has to go home and take a cold shower, but at least it shows she is trying. Uh oh, maybe there is hope for Iris. She definitely had some moves. Now, she has to get comfortable displaying them to her man.
All of the couples with the exception of Iris and Keith attend a group NASCAR driving experience. While the instructor is talking, Elizabeth Bice continues to interrupt him. Jamie Thompson is so frustrated by her rudeness that he yells “shut up and listen, shut up for 5 minutes.” Whoa! Talk about awkward!!!!!!!!! I guess they couldn’t leave their crazy, toxic antics at home. They just had to subject others to the crazy. Elizabeth then tells the group that this is how Jamie always talks to her.
Everyone is so uncomfortable they just remain quiet and decide not to get involved. Elizabeth is so incensed she throws a hissy fit and refuses to drive and participate with the group. It doesn’t seem like anyone cares that Elizabeth is upset, including her husband. Everyone has a blast driving the cars, despite the earlier altercation. When Jamie approaches Elizabeth after he finishes driving, they proceed to get into yet another argument. Ugh…. Whose idea was it to invite these two?
Aww… Deonna McNeill and Greg Okotie are really starting to vibe with one another. The two discuss their relationship and reflect on why they were matched. Okay, I spoke too soon. Just as things are going well, Deonna shuts down again because she thinks Greg is “mansplaining”. Girl…. Get it together. I am still rooting for these two. I think they have the best shot of staying together out of everyone.
Dr. Viviana Coles stops by to visit each Married At First Sight couple to examine their pasts in order to see if they have a future. She speaks to Iris and Keith about intimacy and vulnerability. She gives them an assignment to share a childhood story and suggests they focus on their emotional intimacy.
Jamie and Elizabeth begin arguing even before Dr. Viviana arrives. Jamie speaks to Elizabeth as if he is scolding a child. Elizabeth has a full emotional breakdown and goes full on Hulk on a innocent table when she becomes frustrated. Okay, it’s time for these two to separate.
Their relationship isn’t healthy. Yes, Elizabeth is spoiled and she was definitely wrong for her behavior at the NASCAR event. But with all that being said, to disrespect your wife and embarrass her in front of her friends is completely unacceptable. Maybe if Jamie apologized to Elizabeth immediately the day could have been salvaged. Instead, he seemed oblivious to her feelings and how his actions contributed to her meltdown.
Elizabeth refuses to speak to Dr. Viviana after just having an argument with Jamie. Dr. Viviana speaks with Jamie one-on-one and she asks him to encourage his wife to speak as a group. Dr. Viviana goes into the room to speak to Elizabeth and she says she will listen but refuses to beat down by them. Then as if she has completely lost her mind, she add “Bitch I knows what I did yesterday.”
Umm… did Elizabeth really just say that? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dr. Viviana quickly inquires about if she heard her correctly. Elizabeth quickly backtracks and said she was just using a term and wasn’t truly trying to call her a bitch. Dr. Viviana then plays a video clip of one of their past arguments. Dr. Viviana was able to decode Jamie and Elizabeth’s issues and find suggestions to help them communicate. Honestly, she deserves a bonus just for dealing with them. I highly doubt this truce will last, but at least there is one in place for now.
Amber Bowles and Matt Gwynne reveal to Dr. Viviana that they have decided to abstain from sex for the time being. They want to see if there is anything in their relationship beyond being physical. The magic eight ball says, “all signs point to no.” Although Matt has been abiding by his new rules, Dr. Viviana worries that they will lose chemistry. Ummm…. I’m pretty sure there was never any.
Matt’s behavior alone shows that he doesn’t truly want to spend his time with Amber. If he did, he wouldn’t have been out the house 90% of the time. Matt claims that he doesn’t think they will lose chemistry. He just wants to increase their bond for a stronger marriage. Yeah, I’m NOT buying it. We all know Matt talks a good game, he just doesn’t show it.
Deonna and Greg speak to Dr. Viviana about their budding relationship. After watching a video clip of a recent conversation they realize there are ways they both can improve on communication. I was impressed with how quickly Greg realized what he did wrong. I think Greg likes Deonna so much he often walks on tip toes and tries to keep things positive not realizing he could be contributing to her shutting down at times. Deonna acknowledges she is working on communicating verbally and being open. I think if they can both get this right they have a chance at real happiness.
Iris and Keith lay in bed and prepare to share a secret to increase their intimacy as assigned by Dr. Viviana. Keith is extremely disappointed when Iris shares a completely childish experience. Iris ‘shocking secret was that she accidentally swallowed a quarter. Keith feels like this is another example of her lack of emotional maturity because he was hoping for a deeper experience. Iris, I hope the cameras are the reason you told that stupid story, but at the same time, you signed up to be on Married At First Sight.
Deonna takes Greg to a park from her childhood. While sharing champagne and strawberries, Greg attempts to understand more about Deonna. She initially seems like she is about to shut down, but pushes through her feelings and begins to open up. She admits that her experience with her first love made her close herself off from love for the last ten years.
Matt takes Amber to his childhood home. I guess she can imagine how his family looked living in it since she has never met them. But as usual Amber is excited to take what she can get from her husband. Elizabeth takes Jamie to the plot of land where her family’s trailer used to sit. She becomes very emotional thinking about how far her family has come since that time. Jamie is surprisingly supportive and is happy to get some further insight on his wife as a person.
Iris visits Keith’s childhood home where his parents still live. He and his mother have a heart to heart about his marriage. His mother asks him a does Iris make him happy and Keith states he doesn’t know. Hmm… Iris, you may be a divorced virgin very soon.
After having a nice day, Elizabeth mischievously smiles and admits that she isn’t regretful about her behavior at the NASCAR event. Jamie flies off the handle and is livid that she doesn’t feel the least bit of regret for ruining the day for the other couples. Jamie calls his wife a brat and in turn she calls him a @ss.
Jamie feels that he was only reacting to her poor behavior and her comments make him question their marriage. Well, I am questioning their marriage for a million reasons that involve both of them. Both are extremely immature and have issues with tantrums and fighting dirty. These two just need to break up already and put us all out of our misery.
Greg surprises Deonna with a birthday celebration with her family and friends at Top Golf. Deonna loves to golf and is shocked to see how much planning her husband did behind her back. Greg is a terrible golfer, but a wonderful husband. I really hope these two stay together! If not, I hope Greg finds someone to make him happy.
TELL US- DO YOU THINK ELIZABETH OR JAMIE WAS WRONG AT THE NASCAR EVENT? DO YOU THINK ABSTAINING FROM SEX WILL HELP AMBER AND MATT’S RELATIONSHIP? DO YOU THINK IRIS’ ATTEMPTS AT INTIMACY ARE ENOUGH FOR KEITH? HAS DEONNA BECOME MORE OPEN IN HER RELATIONSHIP WITH GREG?
